Condolence From: Nikkey Rush Freeman- Braeden's Mom
Condolence: Braeden's real obituary, written by his mother who misses him so much. I love you, forever, Boo Bear!
“All roads lead to the hall of fame.”- Braeden Freeman
On the evening of February 3rd, 2015, Braeden smiled as he soared high above the rim and into the
Heavenly Hall of Fame. We ALL surely anticipated Braeden’s eventual induction in to the kingdom of
“Just too awesome to be on Earth” but, because God doesn’t send us scouting reports, we had no idea
he would be called up to the Big Time at the tender age of 20. Braeden’s relationship with each of us is a
trophy he left for us to cherish. To know Braeden was to love Braeden so his trophy case was full, but
would have never reached capacity. We should all aspire to live up to Braeden’s level so one day God
will tell us, “Awe..You are way too cool for Earth” and we can go chill with Braeden and all the other
Greats that went before him.
Braeden Saunders Freeman was born at 12:13 p.m. on Friday, January 13th 1995. He joined Mart’s Class
of 2013 in Kindergarten and remained with them through Graduatin. He was a brilliant individual who
made sure that most saw him as an average student; he just wasn’t all about letting his academic
excellence shine through. His cover was completely blown by his Junior year when he scored nearly
1700 on his SAT and was one of only two students in his class to get commended performance on all four
TAKS tests. At the ࢢme of his death, he was enrolled at McLennan Community College and was
employed at Rosaࢢ’s Pizza.
He loved sports his enࢢre life. Despite wearing a cast FOUR different seasons, he excelled in Li‚le
League baseball. He even, single-handedly, turned a triple play in a game when he was about 7. He
played flag football alongside his li‚le sister and his lifelong friend, Xavier Rosas, among others, before
graduaࢢng to the tackle variety. During his Senior year, Braeden was a member of Mart High School’s
varsity squad that reached the state championship game before falling to Stamford. Basketball was
always Braeden’s favorite sport and although he got limited playing ࢢme, everyone who knew Braeden,
knew he could ball. He was a member of Mart’s Varsity team that reached the Regional Tournament for
the first ࢢme since the 1970s. He also loved kneeboarding and spent many Summer days on the lakes
and rivers with the Kyle boys.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert Rush and his special Granny, Isabell
Rosas, both of whom surely greeted Braeden with open arms upon his arrival to the heavenly kingdom.
Braeden is survived by his sister, Savannah Nicole Freeman and their mother, Nicole “Nikkey” Rush
Freeman and her long-ࢢme friend, William “Billy” Howell. Also, his father, Barry Saunders Freeman and
his wife, Norma, of Woodway. He is also survived by his step-siblings: Lee Sawyers, Leah Newman,
Jessica Davis and Miranda Nichols and their respecࢢve families, including Miranda’s son, Kaiden, who
idolized Braeden. Other survivors include his grandparents Butch and JoAnn Freeman and Brenda and
Dutch Mallow, all of Mart and Patsy Lyons Freeman of Waco, Aunts and Uncles: Brent and Lisa Freeman,
Brian Freeman and partner, Robert Jaramillo, Ben and Tricia Rush, Natalie and Brad Gooden, Carrie and
Glenn Kennedy, Jeremy and Julie Rush, Blake Rush and SuAnne and Keith Gilleland.
Braeden’s cousins were so important to him and they will miss his Earthly presence. They are Austin
Freeman and his wife, Mandy, Walker and Trevor Freeman; Ashley and Hunter Dawson; Kaymee and Karleigh Gooden, Kinsey and Cannon “Brother” Rush and Bryton Rush.
“BFree” /”T-Bob” had a CREW of friends that were more like a band of brothers than friends. They all
shared a love of music, sports, good ࢢmes and random fact conversations (usually started by Braeden).
The Crew will forever have a void left by the departure of the wittiest, most charismatic soul they will
probably ever know.
Braeden’s services were held this past weekend in Waco at OakCrest Funeral Home, but there will be a
balloon release on Thursday 2-12-15 around 5:30pm at Mart Panther Stadium. This celebration is going
to be an uplifting experience where Savannah will be able to share her 18th birthday with everyone while
saying goodbye to her beloved Braeden. She would like to invite everyone that loved Braeden to write a
message to him and release them all UP to the Heavens. Please come out and join the family for this
“UP” celebration.
There has been a scholarship fund set up in Braeden’s name at The First National Bank of Central Texas
here in Mart, but you can make a donatin at any of the 5 branches if you would like.
