Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Helen Lander can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Helen H. Lander

Helen H.  Lander
Helen H. Murchison Lander died on November 16, 2015. Mrs. Lander was born October 8, 1915 in Corsicana, Texas, the daughter of the late William C. Holmes and Helen Hardy Pierce. The family will hold a private graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be at 2732 Rockview Drive on Tuesday, November 17th from 5-7 pm.

Mrs. Lander graduated from the University of Texas, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America and served as a board member of the Waco YWCA, Planned Parenthood, and Oakwood Cemetery. She volunteered at the Red Cross and for St. Paul's Episcopal Church altar guild.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Murchison and her second husband, Clarence Lander.
She is survived by her daughter, Penny Murchison Chase and husband Tom; her son John L. Murchison and wife Christy; her grandchildren Ashley Murchison Unbehagen and husband Baron of Austin; Hardy Murchison and wife Amy of Houston; Jennifer Murchison Barvitski and husband Bill of Gunnison, Colorado; George Chase and wife Cara of Waco; Felicia Chase Goodman and husband Somers of Waco; and ten great grandchildren - Claire and Ellie Chase, Ashley and Virginia Murchison, John and Samantha Unbehagen, Helen and Daisy Goodman, and Jane and Will Barvitski.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas' Building Our Future Fund (1121 Ross Avenue, Waco, TX 76706) or a charity of your choice.
