Obituary for William Ted Strickland Jr.

William Ted Strickland
June 17, 1942 – October 20, 2015

Ted Strickland, Jr., 73, of Hewitt, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 20, 2015. Funeral services will be at 11 am on Friday, October 23 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. with Pastors Marvin Donnell and Lloyd Strickland officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday, October 22 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.

Ted was born June 17, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas and moved to Waco as a small child. He attended Waco High School and then served as an Expert Rifleman in the United States Marine Corp.
Ted married the love of his life and soulmate Darlene on October 8, 1971. He was a mechanic for 50 years and retired as an automotive instructor from TSTC in 2009.

Ted was a charter member of Faith Temple Baptist Church in Lorena, Texas. There he served as a deacon and trustee for over 35 years. He also served as the contractor for the new church building in Lorena.
Ted was a devoted husband, an amazing father and grandfather who loved his family very much, teaching them to love and trust the Lord. He loved driving fast Corvettes, listening to loud music, dancing, and hanging out with his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois and William Ted Strickland, Sr., brothers, Jimmy Wayne Strickland and Floyd Strickland; and sister, Helen Massengil.

Ted is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Darlene; daughters, Candace Lewis and husband James of Burleson, Texas and Michelle Pullin and husband Shawn of Hewitt; son, Willie Strickland of Hewitt; Eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, Lloyd Strickland and wife Jonell of Eddy; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Sexton, Carolyn Goodwin and husband Charles; and numerous and all very special nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Faith Temple Baptist Church, 1197 Old Lorena Road, Lorena, Texas 76655.
Pallbearers will be Michael Strickland, Jack Dawson, Joe Bob Brown, Curtis Brown, Tim Cantu and Mike Gonzales.
