Lawrence Rudolf Laubert, 84, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the St. Catherine Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Friday, Aug. 21 at St. Louis Catholic Church, 2001 N. 25th Street, with Father John Guzaldo as the celebrant. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 20 at Oakcrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. A visitation will follow for family and friends.

Lawrence was born on May 23, 1931 in Lott, TX to Peter and Josephine (Niekamp) Laubert. His family moved to Tours, TX when he was a young boy. Lawrence attended St. Martin Catholic School in Tours. He served in the U. S. Navy on the U.S.S. Romulus from 1952-1956. He began working at General Tire & Rubber Co in 1956.

He married Gail Nan Lord on Sept, 7, 1957 in Dallas, TX. They were founding members of St. Louis Catholic Church in 1964. He taught his children to work hard and persevere in trials. He retired from General Tire in 1986 after 30 years of service. Lawrence worked for Waco ISD for 12 years retiring in 2000.

He spent his retirement serving his neighbors. He organized monthly food drives for Caritas at St. Louis Catholic Church. He also delivered lunches for Meals on Wheels. He loved putting together jigsaw puzzles.

Lawrence is survived by his children, Julie Zakhary and husband Yost of Woodway, Laune Steinke and husband, Max of Waco, Jonathan Laubert and wife Debbie of St. Louis, MO, Matthew Laubert and wife Lisa of Dallas; grandchildren, Emily and Lauren Zakhary of Woodway, Thomas and Matthew Steinke of Waco, Kristin Hill of Dallas, Courtney Holdeman and husband James of Chicago, IL, Ashley and Victoria Morrow of Dallas; great grandson, Peter Holdeman of Chicago, IL; 2 brothers, Alvin Laubert and wife Lillie, Ervin Laubert, and wife Geraldine, all of West, TX; 4 sisters, Emma Brown of Hillsboro, Angeline Henkleman of Waco, Josephine King, and husband Randy of Dallas, Irene Laubert of Waco.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ralph Norvell, Victor Hinojosa, Sidney Bolfing, Cecil Padgett, Richard Hyde, and Jerry Brown.

The family would like to say a special Thank You to Dr. John Kosarek and the staff of St. Elizabeth for their loving care of Dad.
