Uncle Leonard

I remember the times when Uncle Leonard and Aunt Annie would travel to Dodge City to visit our family.  My mom was always so excited to have her brother's family come and visit.  I don't remeber how long they would actually stay, but it seemed to come and go quickly.  I also remember the trips to Waco with my mother and Sister Irene and Sister Sara. Uncle Leonard would cook up a wonderful meal and we would have dishes like Watergate salad and Mockingbird Cake.  Of course, Sister Irene probably didn't think it was all that healthy, but his other two sisters loved it all.  What fun it was to hear their conversations at the table! And I also remember touring Uncle Leonard's back yard garden.  My Uncle Leonard was such a good person with a kind heart. Because of him I have some wonderful memories to cherish and treasure--Mary Michelle Herrmann Jantz
