Athalee slipped her earthly bonds calmly, to don her heavenly robes and continue to serve her God and Savior as she was called Home on Monday, August 17, 2015.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at OakCrest Funeral Home with Rev. Jason McCash officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mexia City Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco.

Athalee was born March 30, 1924 in Groesbeck to Jessie James Hood and Addie Mae Holloway Hood. She was married to the love of her life, Glendon O. Dezell on October 24, 1944 and they celebrated 70 years together before his death on March 21, 2015.

Athalee was a faithful Christian wife and mother, and a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family dearly. She will be tenderly missed. She was a member of Timbercrest Baptist Church in Waco.

She is survived by sons, Glendon Bruce DeZell of Houston, and James and wife, Sheri DeZell of Waco; and daughter, Linda and husband, Dicky Hall of Katy; a sister, Wilma and husband, Seth Wilson; and a sister-in-law, Datha Crutchfield. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Derek and Shelbie DeZell, Victoria DeZell, James Matthew DeZell, Adam and Kristin Hall, Dr. Tracilyn Hall, Sayde Carlsen, and Cortney Carlsen; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
