Bettie Ray Butler McKelroy, 79, of China Spring passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015 in Waco. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 8 at 10:00 am at Greater Waco Baptist Church with Dr. Gerald McKelroy officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with her family will be held Friday, August 7 from 6 – 7 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Bettie was born July 23, 1936 in Waco, Texas to Lester and Irene (Warren) Butler. She graduated from Waco High School. Bettie married her lifelong sweetheart H.J. “Mac” McKelroy on November 6, 1954. Mac and Bettie owned and operated several businesses in Waco over the last 50 years including Mac’s Cabinet Shop, Mac’s Furniture Store, Mac’s Heating and Air and Mac’s Self-Storage. Mac and Bettie also showed horses, Longhorn and Limousine Cattle. They lived in the China Spring area for over 45 years.

Bettie is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Irene Butler; husband H.J. McKelroy; son, Danny Joe McKelroy; granddaughter, Elizabeth Renae McKelroy; and great-granddaughter, Elaina Beth McKelroy.

Survivors include her son, Gerald McKelroy and wife, Denise; daughter, Donna Wilson and husband, Scott; grandchildren, Stephanie Thorp and husband, Jason, Nicole Wilson, Amanda McKelroy, Joe McKelroy and wife, Katie, Austin McKelroy and wife Lauren; and great-grandchildren, Elias and Ivy Thorp.

In lieu of floral arrangements, memorial donations may be made to Greater Waco Baptist Church, 910 E. Loop 340, Waco, Texas 76705 ro Providence Hospice, www.providencehospice.org.
