Obituary for Nelda Modena "Mo" Weathersbee (Richardson)

Nelda Modena “Mo” Weathersbee, 100, of Waco, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at her home. A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, June 27 at Rosemound Cemetery, officiated by Mrs. O.M. Bailey. Visitation will be held Friday, June 26 from 6 to 8 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Nelda Modena Richardson was born in 1915 in Frisco, Texas to the late John Robert and Madie Vera (Hickman) Richardson, Sr. She married Claude Harrison Weathersbee in 1932. He preceded her in death in 1983. Nelda worked at Library Binding Company for 32 years, retiring just shy of her 80th birthday. During the last two years of her employment, she helped put her third daughter, Armeda, thru nursing school.

Nelda always had a giving heart and was a faithful tither to The Church by Christ Jesus and also supported the Haitian missionary work thru Perfection in Christ Jesus, Inc. since 2009. She has also written articles for the monthly church newspaper, The Restorer, for over 25 years.

Nelda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and six of her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Yvonne Layne of Round Rock, TX, Carolyn Jeannette Lara-Braud, Armeda Ann Jost, and Teresa Wonnelle Weber who all lived with her in Waco; 5 grandchildren, Debbie Layne of Cedar Park, Donna Grigsby and husband Donald of Austin, Melisa Durham and husband John, of Cedar Park, Steve Layne and wife Andi of Ft. Worth and Molly Bricker of Spring; 5 great-grandchildren, Aaron Grigsby of Austin, Aubrey Durham of Cedar Park Macy Bricker of Spring and Chad and Eric Robinson of Ft. Worth; 1 great-great-grandchild, Rowdy Robinson of Ft. Worth; and sister, Omega Lee Smith, 92, of Ormond Beach, FL.
