Wayne Lee Hill, 91, of Eddy, passed away at the dawn of a new year with his loved ones by his side. Visitation will be Friday, January 9 from 5-7pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco Texas. Service will be at 10am Saturday, January 10 at OakCrest Funeral Home with Lee Casey officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park.
Wayne was born on September 16, 1934 in the South Bosque community near Waco. He graduated from Midway High School in 1954 and became a fine electrician, being employed by General Tire, M&M Mars and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice over the course of his career. Wayne had a reputation for being able to fix almost anything and loved to tinker with old cars, clocks and guns.
Wayne married the former Barbara Jean Miles in 1955 and together they raised three sons, Alvis, Darrell and Steven. Wayne and Barbara were great parents and instilled in their boys the desire to love and serve the Lord. They were married nearly 60 years before Barbara passed away in 2014.
Wayne was prepared to live out the rest of his life alone, but God had other plans. He married Kay King on May 10, 2019 and they shared six wonderful years together. Wayne and Kay completed each other, and their life together is a wonderful testimony to God's grace.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Katherine Hill; his brother, John; and his first wife, Barbara.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Kay; sister, Dorothy; brother, Dean; his sons, Alvis (Dawn), Darrell (Cindy), and Steven; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; as well as extended step family and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Hill, Nathan Hill, Daniel Hill, Dan King, Everett Casper and Tony Strickland.
The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Coral Rehabilitation and Nursing in McGregor for the love and compassion they showed to Wayne in his final days.
