Terry Joe Hutchinson, 86, of Waco, passed away Friday, January 9, 2015. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at OakCrest Funeral Home with Rev. Kip Osborne officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2015 at OakCrest Funeral Home. 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Terry Joe Hutchinson was born September 9, 1928 in San Antonio, TX. As a kid he worked at both the Waco and Levy Theatres. Terry was drafted into the United States Army and served in Germany for 18 months in the 4th Division Clearing Company, Medical Battalion. After returning, he met and married the love of his life, Janet Rifenberg on October 17, 1953. Terry’s skill of trade was advertising, working as the Advertising Director at Lewis Shoe Store for 8 years. While at Lewis’ he received Brand Name Awards and a memorable trip for he and Janet that took them to New York City. Terry ultimately retired from the Waco Tribune Herald after 26 years of working Display Advertising. He was a member of the Waco Founders Lions Club. After his retirement, he volunteered at the Lake Air Little League Baseball Fields as a Grounds Keeper. Terry was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church for 55 years, where he served as a deacon and several years as Sunday School Director. He enjoyed oil painting and was a member of the Waco Porcelain Art Guild where he painted on china.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Norean Hutchinson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Janet Hutchinson; sons, Tim Hutchinson and wife, Karen, and Tupper Hutchinson; granddaughter, Dusty Bohne and husband, Kris; grandsons Jonathan and Stephen Moore, Chase Wilson; and great grandchildren, Will, Emily, and Ethan Bohne.
Pallbearers will be Michael Landsfeld, Alex Wood, Mark Doyle, Ray Colclasure, Mark Liska, and Robert Borchgardt. Honorary pallbearers will be The Crusaders Sunday School Class.
