Stephen Joseph Ott

Stephen Joseph Ott, 61, of Waco, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025. Born February 23, 1964, in Waco, to Bernard and Dorothy Ott, Stephen was a 1982 graduate of Reicher Catholic High School and graduated from Texas State Technical Institute with an Associate of Applied Arts in Commercial Art and Advertising.

A talented artist and photographer, Stephen began his career at Ray Hicks Advertising in Waco and was most recently employed at Seedhouse Creative as an Art Director. His clients included Baylor University and Cameron Park Zoo. Stephen was recognized for his talent as the recipient of several American Advertising Awards (Addy Awards) throughout his career, which celebrate creative excellence in advertising.

Stephen was a devoted cat owner and the family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in Stephen’s name to the Humane Society of Central Texas - https://hsctx.org. We thank you for honoring Stephen in this manner.

Survivors include brothers, Bernard Jr. of Waco (wife Cynthia), James of Arlington (wife Margaret), Robert of Houston (wife Rachel), and Brian of Austin (wife Juli); sister, Rose Hutyra of Round Rock (husband Jeff); as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be August 11, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., with a Rosery at 6:00 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home, and the Mass August 12, 10:00 a.m. at St Louis Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cathleen Sparks, Andrew Ott, Christopher Ott, Carolyn Moody, Jennifer Hutyra, Christian Ott, Captain Bryce Ott, and Tyler Ott.
