Robert Earl Bray, Sr. passed away on April 28, 2026, at Ridgecrest Nursing Home surrounded by his loved ones after suffering a stroke. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, May 1, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Woodway Methodist Church, Woodway, TX with burial to follow at Harris Creek Cemetery.

He was born on November 23, 1928, to Anna Lee (Martindale) Bray and Andrew Hamilton Bray in Birmingham, AL. Robert, Marilyn and their mom came to the South Bosque when he was just 2 years old in a moon car. He graduated from South Bosque High School in 1945. After graduation, he went into the United States Army. He served from November 8, 1948, to November 8, 1951, serving in the Korean War where he was promoted to Sergeant. Robert had lived in Woodway since August 9, 1955. In his early years he served on the Volunteer Fire Department and would also ride with police officer, C.L. Cardwell. Robert also served on several committees with the city of Woodway throughout his life.

After Korea, he came back and started working at General Tire where he met his wife, Doris Marie Goodson. They were married on September 19, 1952, at Harris Creek Baptist Church. They were married for nearly 68 years before her passing on December 24, 2019.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris Bray; half brother and 2 half-sisters; grandson, Gabriel Hurt; son-in-law, James (Tiger) Bumguardner III.

He is survived by his son, Robert Bray Jr., and wife, Barbara; daughter, Nancy Bray Wagner and husband, Leo; sister, Marilyn Sandhoff, niece, Pam Petry; and nephew, Buddy Sandhoff.

Also surviving are his grandchildren, Colleen Muras, Robert Bray III, April Bray, Dustin Bumguardner, Steven Green, Garrett Wagner, Mike Kuykendall and David Bradbury; great-grandchildren, Samantha Huff, Raven Foulis, Hayleigh Ottinger, Mason Foulis, Solomon Foulis, Summer Foulis, Mia Mahan, Isabella Assunaco, Austin Bray, Chase and Courtney Kuykendall, Luna Green, Lenox Green, Laila Hardin, Dustin Bumguardner, Jr., Rayden Bumguardner, Payten Bumgardner and Jude Bumguardner; great-great-grandchildren, Emmaline Lacy Huff and Charlotte Jean Huff.

Pallbearers will be Monty Carrigan, Mike Remus, David Crownover, Jimmy Harper, Donnie Culp and Chris Busse.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Interim Hospice, Visiting Angels and Ridgewood Nursing and Rehab Center for excellent care during such a difficult time. Also, for Robert Bray, Jr. and Leo Michael Wagner for taking care of Dad, along with all the caregivers that helped along the way.
