Rick Wooley

Rickey Wooley, age 70, of Waco, Texas, went to be with the Lord on November 13, 2025, passing peacefully while surrounded by his family.

A visitation for Rickey will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, beginning at 3pm, followed by a memorial service at 4pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., Waco, Texas. Pastor David Cozart will be officiating.

Growing up, Rick was a talented athlete who loved football and basketball. He was a 1973 Chilton High School graduate, where he was a proud member of the high school basketball team that advanced to the state tournament. Although he received basketball scholarships Rick chose to enter the workforce, initially at General Tire Company. His true calling was sales, a career that spanned decades to include Hicks Furniture Store, his own businesses: "Cards and Stuff" and "Rick's Collectibles," and ultimately culminating in 24 years as the top salesman at AutoZone.

Rick’s personality was larger than life. He was a great storyteller and known for his constant stream of jokes and original one-liners. His humor even landed him in the Waco Tribune Herald comics one summer, with lines like, "It's so hot the fish are sweating.”

He was a man defined by his beautiful grace, boundless compassion, and a singular gift for meeting the needs of others according to his abilities. His home was your home; as family members brought guests, he always ensured they had everything they needed, meeting everyone where they were and making them feel welcome. Throughout his life, his greatest joys were found in simple pleasures and profound connections. His spirit was often lifted by music; he loved listening, dancing, and occasionally sharing a song on karaoke. He was an avid sports enthusiast, passionately following all sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Mavericks. Rick was an enthusiastic collector, trader, and seller of sports cards, he shared this hobby most weekends at Treasure City in Waco. Other hobbies included playing games such as bingo and especially his favorite dice game, Yahtzee. He channeled his commitment to others by serving as a proud coach for his daughter's little league basketball teams. In later years, his deep contentment was found in following and sharing about all his grandchildren’s latest events, activities, and achievements and holding his great-grandchildren. Above all, he cherished the holidays, a time when his beloved wife, Sharron, would fill their home with the aromas of her delicious cooking, allowing him to enjoy the priceless company of family and friends gathered around him. The company of family and friends will deeply miss his warm presence and, most of all, the tender, proud tradition of hearing him share his love for his wife, children, and grandchildren with all who were near.

Rickey was preceded in death by his father, Edward Wooley; his mother, Barbara Wooley; and his brother, Rocky Wooley.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharron Wooley; his brother and wife, Rusty and Margaret Wooley; his children, Mynda Residori, Rebecca and husband William Chapman, Stephanie and husband Jonathon Trombo, and Donnie Barrett; grandchildren, William Christian and wife Dionne Chapman, Tyler and wife Meagan Residori, Branden and wife Dawn LoveStone, Dylan Residori, Cadyn Residori, Isabella Chapman, and Collins Barrett; great-grandchildren Tucker and Vera Residori and Cecil and Vincent LoveStone; many nieces and nephews; and a host of lifelong friends.

His full-of-life personality, his compassion, and his humor will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
