Richard “Rick” Schell, 55, was taken suddenly and too soon on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013 in Temple, Texas. Funeral services will be held 11:30 am, Friday, November 1, at Oak Crest Funeral Home in Waco, with Father Cyril officiating. The family visitation will begin at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Rick was born March 9, 1958 in Dayton, Ohio to Robert and Delores Schell. He married Kristine Turnbach on December 9, 2011 in Waco. He attended college at Sinclair College in Dayton, OH and McLennan Community College in Waco, TX. His biggest joy was spending time with his wife and family. He loved barbecuing, living in Central Texas, and being an adopted son of Texas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a strong supporter of the VFW.
Survivors include his beloved wife and best friend, Kristine Turnbach Schell of Hewitt; sons, Richard A.Schell, Jr and wife, Megan of Germany, Brian Schell and wife, Meghan of San Antonio; daughter, Jessica Schell Thomson of Vernal, UT; step sons, Jeremy Peyton, and wife, Jessica of Round Rock and Bryan Hearn and Shelly of Waco; grandchildren, Lilly and Colton Schell, Damien Thomson, Kyla and Mikenna Peyton and Jackson Hearn; parents, Robert and Delores Schell of Centerville, OH; brothers, Robert Schell, Jr, and wife, Kim, David Schell and Danny Schell, all of Centerville, OH; sisters, Debbie Schell of West Carrollton, OH, Kathy Glasgow and husband, Charles of Huber Heights, OH, and Patty Foster, and husband, Kevin of Wisconsin; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Richard Schell, to the Veterans Relief Fund at Hewitt VFW Post 6008, 725 Sun Valley Blvd, Hewitt, TX 76643.
