Pete Salazar, 85 of Waco, Texas, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 12 at OakCrest Funeral Home from 6-8 pm. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, February 13, and the burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Pete was born on December 4, 1940, to Carlos Salazar and Henrietta Romero Salazar in Chilton, Texas. He married Guadalupe (Lupe) Rodriguez on February 28, 1960, who preceded him in death in 2008. Also preceding him in death were his daughter, Connie Burns and son-in-law, Kenneth Harper in 2021.
Pete was a loving husband, father, grandfather (papa to his grandchildren), and brother. He will be missed by his family and friends. Pete was employed at Frank Weaver Pontiac, Vestal’s Body Shop, and with Martin Automotive until his retirement.
Pete is survived by his children, Linda Harper, Pete Salazar (Janet) and Lucy Faulkner (James); grandchildren, Kevin Harper, Jessica Johns (Mark), Michael Salazar (Shannon), James Faulkner (Jessica), Amanda Prellop (Ryan), Eric Salazar and Raven Watkins; 21 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Carlos Salazar, Joe Salazar (Mary), Julia Sliwka, Beatrice Arispe and Gloria Perez; as well as many nieces and nephews whom he treated like his own children.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Harper, Jessica Johns, Michael Salazar, James Faulkner, Amanda Prellop, Eric Salazar, Raven Watkins, and Jakoby Faulkner. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren.
The Salazar family would like to thank Dominque, Casi, Anna, and Chaplin Georgia with Enhabit Hospice for their care during our father’s illness.

The burial will be immediately following the Mass.
