Pete Felan

Pete “Popo” Felan

Pete Felan, age 77, passed away on June 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, hard work, and devotion to family. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 6 8pm at Grace Temple Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 10am also at Grace Temple Baptist Church. Burial will be immediately following the service at Oakwood Cemetery.

Pete was born on February 2, 1949 in Marlin, Texas to Peggy and Martin Felan. He was welcomed into the world by his two older sisters, Jane and Mary, and later proudly became a big brother to his younger brother, Martin Felan, Jr.

He graduated from Chilton High School in 1967 and went on to train and serve in the National Guard from 1968 to 1972. Following his military service, he built a career spanning more than 50 years with Overhead Door, where he eventually retired—only to return to work because he loved the people and company so much. Overhead Door was more than a workplace to Pete; it was a second home. He took great pride in his work and formed lifelong friendships with those fortunate enough to work alongside him.

Pete enjoyed the simple things in life and the people he shared them with. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, dancing, listening to music, working on old cars, and helping others whenever he could. He enjoyed being a familiar face wherever he went, where there was always a cold beer, a good story to tell, and friends to share a laugh with. Pete is said to have never sat still and could often be found tinkering on a project, fixing something for a friend, or lending a helping hand to anyone in need.

Above all else, Pete was a family man. At the age of 48, Pete became a grandfather, earning the nickname “Popo”—a name that would become known and cherished by an army of grandchildren who adored him. It was one of the titles he carried most proudly.

Pete is survived by his siblings, Jane Salinas and Martin Felan, Jr.; his sons, Pete “Dwayne” Felan and Martin “Marty” Felan; and four additional children whom he loved and guided as his own: Travis, Casey, Michelle, and Crystal.

He was the proudest grandfather of Isaac, James, Landon, Sydney, Joshua, Hailey, Michael, Tyler, Alexis, Alyssa, McKenna, Tristyn, and Caden, as well as many beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend as they honor Pete’s memory, celebrate his life, and reflect on the many lives he touched throughout his years. To know Pete was to love him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
