Orville Hecker, Jr., 82, of Robinson, passed away October 30, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 p.m. Saturday, November 2, at St. Jerome Catholic Church.
Entombment with military honors will follow at the Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Friday, November 1, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco, with the Knights of Columbus as Honor Guards.
Orville was born on May 8, 1931 to Orville and Clista Hecker. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in Europe and Fort Hood. He met Geraldine Hoelscher while at Fort Hood, and they were married on November 7, 1953 in Westphalia. He worked at General Tire Co. in Waco for 33 years, and retired in 1986. He also volunteered at VA Medical Center in Waco for 25 years.
Orville was a member of the Knights of Columbus #1358 for over 55 years, as well as the New Horizons Group at St. Jerome Catholic Church. He loved to camp, travel and attend the Hoelscher reunions.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, and granddaughter, Sara.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Geraldine; 3 sons, Michael Hecker and wife, Donna of Hewitt, Donald Hecker and wife Susan of Round Rock, Doug Hecker of Robinson, daughter, Carolyn Surritt and husband Troy of Arlington; 6 grandchildren, Joshua, Andrea, Brittany, Rachael, Kristen, Ryan and many special nieces and nephews in Ohio and Westphalia.
