Onnie Ray Nichols was born a twin on March 11, 1955 to Ollie and Gertie Mae Nichols. He attended Waco schools, graduating from Moore High School in 1974.
He joined the United States Army after high school as a mechanic (MOS91). While on active duty he traveled to Germany, Colorado, and Georgia. After his active duty, he continued to serve his country by joining the United States Army Reserves. During his time in the reserves, he traveled to Honduras and San Antonio.
After his military service he worked at The Doris Miller VA Medical Center and continued to do what he liked doing best as a contractor with General Dynamics, Contract Professionals Inc, and Aerotek. While working with these contractors, he assisted in both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Onnie was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Gertie Nichols; brothers, William Nichols, Sr., Tommy Nichols, and Leslie Nichols, Sr.; and sister, Gerline Nichols Hunter.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Nichols; son, O. Ryan Nichols; grandson, Jaidyn Nichols; brothers, Albert Nichols (Billy), Ollie Nichols, III. (Geneva), and Billy Joe Nichols; sisters, his twin - Gertie Houston, Marilyn Clayton (Herbert), Earlene Nichols, and Darline Nichols; his faithful furry companions, Zoey and Bailey; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
