Nancy Cagle

Nancy Cagle, 85, of Waco, Texas, passed away Friday, September 18, 2026. Services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Central Presbyterian Church, 9191 Woodway Drive, Waco, Texas, with the visitation held 1 hour prior to the service. Rev. Judith March Hardie will be officiating.

Graveside services will be held at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas on Monday, September 28, 2026 at 1:30 pm.

Mrs. Cagle was born in El Paso, Texas, to Nelle and Robert Burnett.

She married Charles L. Cagle on September 30, 1961, while attending Texas Western College, now UT El Paso.

Nancy followed her husband in his military career to Okinawa and back to the States, eventually settling in Waco, Texas, with their two young children. She worked for WISD in many capacities, including graphic artist and substitute teacher. She was a member of many civic groups, including CASA, the Art Guild of Central Texas, and the Calligraphers Guild. She was also a member of AAUW and Presbyterian Women (PW), and she delivered for Meals on Wheels. Nancy and her husband were very involved in other civic groups, including the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, Brookview Neighborhood Association, Citizens on Patrol, Citizens Police Academy, Food for Families, and Friends of the Waco McLennan Library. She and Charles were Volunteers of the Year for Waco Habitat for Humanity. She was also a sixteen-gallon blood donor.

She loved to travel back to El Paso to visit many friends and family. The family often went camping in Colorado. She enjoyed going to PW conventions and having adventures with her friends.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Laine Lynch, and son, Robert Cagle of Waco, as well as three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the Girl Scouts of the USA, Boy Scouts of America, American Heart Association, Friends of the Library, Habitat for Humanity, or Central Presbyterian Church.
