Mary Beth McKamie

Mary Elizabeth “Mary Beth” McKamie, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, at the age of 87. She was born on September 30, 1937, in The Grove, Texas, to J.W. and Juanita Graham.

Mary Beth devoted her life to serving others. A faithful homemaker, she lovingly supported her husband, Bobby McKamie (now deceased), and poured her heart into raising their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with grace, joy, and unwavering love.

Mary Beth and Bobby were married on September 4, 1953, at First Baptist Church in Moody, Texas. Over the years, they built a rich life together in Alice, Austin, San Angelo, Arlington, and finally Waco, where they became deeply involved in their community. Since 1976, Mary Beth was a faithful member of Chalk Bluff Baptist Church, where she served in countless ways—as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School leader, children’s director, and member of the Christian Women’s Committee and Bluff Baptist Association. Her gentle spirit and servant’s heart left a lasting impact on everyone she met.

She found her greatest joy in serving the Lord and spending time with those she loved. Whether she was cooking a delicious meal, sewing with care, hosting family and friends, or simply offering a listening ear, Mary Beth’s warmth and hospitality touched many lives.

Mary Beth is survived by her children: Gary McKamie and his wife Paula of Glen Rose, TX, Sharon Newman of San Antonio, TX, and Lisa Muttiah and her husband Ranjan of Fort Worth, TX. She leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: Brant McKamie, Blane McKamie, Zachary Newman, Ashlie Newman, Aidan Muttiah, Christian Muttiah, Rachel Muttiah, and granddaughter-in-law Kate McKamie, as well as five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Jimmie Don and Marie Aycock. Mary Beth will be lovingly remembered by her church family and a host of dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby McKamie; grandson, Blake McKamie; son-in-law, Gary Newman; mother, Juanita Taylor; father, J.W. Graham; brother, Bobby Graham; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence and Elouise McKamie.

A service celebrating Mary Beth’s life will be held at Chalk Bluff Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 23, at 10:00 am. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 - 10:00 am. A private family burial will follow.

Pallbearers will be her son-in-law Ranjan Muttiah and grandsons: Brant McKamie, Blane McKamie, Aidan Muttiah, and Christian Muttiah.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers from Forever Young In-Home Companion Care and Alev/Care Hospice, whose kindness and support during Mary Beth’s final days brought peace and comfort to all.
