Mary Tomasa Cisneros, age 87, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas.
Mary was born on December 21, 1938, to Antonio and Juanita Martinez. She made her home in Waco, Texas, where she lived a life rooted in faith, service, and dedication to her community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Juanita Martinez; husband, Joe Desiderio Cisneros; son, Joe Dennis Cisneros; sisters, Betty Castanon, Josephine Ramirez, and Guadalupe Hernandez; and brothers-in-law, Carlos Pesina, Jr., Jesse Ramirez, and Jesse Castanon.
Mary is survived by her sisters, Mary Lou Pesina and Esther Gonzales; brother, Pete Martinez; brothers-in-law, Roman Gonzales and Francisco Hernandez; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many dear friends.
Mary devoted her life to service and education. She worked as a secretary in the brokerage department at Wolfe Florist. She later became the chief organizer of the North Waco Neighborhood Center, playing a vital role in supporting and strengthening her community. That same calling eventually led her into healthcare. She attended nursing school, became a nurse, and continued her education, earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She went on to work as a hospital administrator in Gatesville, Texas, where she was respected for her leadership, compassion, and dedication to excellence.
A woman of deep faith, Mary volunteered faithfully throughout her life. She was a member of the St. Louis Quilting Club and volunteered at St. Mary’s Church cleaning candles. As a young woman, she also helped clean St. Francis Church, reflecting her humble and devoted spirit.
Visitation will be held at OakCrest Funeral Home on February 5, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Catholic Church on February 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with the burial following at Waco Memorial Park Cemetery
Pallbearers will be Adam Richard Ramirez, Abram Nathaneal Ramirez, Isaac Matthias Ramirez, Daniel A. Ramirez, Santos J. Suarez, and Elijah Rodriguez.
Mary will be remembered for her kindness, honesty, strength, and unwavering commitment to family, faith, and community.
