Martha Jones

Martha Jones, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on December 30, 2025, at the age of 84. Born in Somerville, Texas on March 17, 1941, Martha grew up in a large, loving family and attended Somerville High School. She lived most of her life in Eddy, Texas, where she was an active member of the Bruceville-Eddy United Methodist Church.

Martha married the love of her life, Jimmy Jones, on March 22, 1958. After marrying, they began their life together in Waco, Texas. Later, they built a home in Eddy, Texas where she lived for the rest of her life. Together, they spent 32 years of happy marriage before Jimmy’s passing. Martha was deeply proud of her two daughters, who were her greatest joy. She found happiness in spending time with family and friends, especially at the lake on the houseboat that Jimmy built with his own hands. Her grandchildren lovingly called her "Mimi," and she treasured her role as a grandmother to four and a great-grandmother to six.

Martha was one of nine children born to Frank and Milady Moravec, all of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Jones; daughter, Sherry Bolton; special friend, David Cady; along with many dear friends and loved ones.

Martha held a special place in her heart for her dear friends and neighbors, Johnny and Linda Girard, who were a constant source of love and support throughout her life. Their friendship was a true blessing, and she cherished the many memories they made together.

She is survived by her daughter, Laurie Hengst and husband Landon; grandchildren, Amber Sykes and husband Shane, Hayley Lechler and husband Matt, Leana Mann and husband Eric, and Logan Hengst and wife Taynara; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Morris Lechler, Deanna and Kelson Sykes, Kason Mann, and Noah Hengst; her sister-in-law, Floy Mae Moravec; and many nieces and nephews.

Martha will be remembered for her heart of gold, her unwavering ability to love unconditionally, and her open arms to accept others for who they were. Her kindness, warmth, and love will forever be missed by all who knew her.

Martha will be laid to rest at a graveside service at Waco Memorial Park on January 6 at 1:00 pm.
