Martha Jane Gerath

Martha Jane Gerath, 93, passed away on June 19, 2025, in West, Texas, just three days after her birthday. She was born on June 16, 1932, in Bomarton, Texas, and lived a life marked by love, resilience, her love for the Lord, and an unwavering devotion to her family.

Martha was a housewife and mother to her children for many years. As the children grew older, Martha began working as a caregiver, offering compassion and kindness to those in her care. She later retired from caregiving and enjoyed many peaceful years of retirement. Martha was also a long-time member at Western Heights Baptist Church in Waco, Texas.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, John Gerath, Sr.; her children, Pamela Gerath, John Gerath, Jr., and Randal Gerath; her sisters, Rachel Gill, Edna Brister, Christine Spillman, and Prebble Eldridge; and her parents.

She is survived by her daughters, Kelly Gerath of Troy and Kay Hagar and husband, Brent of Lorena; son, Matt Gerath and wife, Darlene of Elm Mott; and brother, Henry Eldridge of Illinois. Martha’s legacy continues through her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and joy.

Martha’s gentle spirit, beautiful smile, and warm heart will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 A.M., Friday, June 27, 2025, at OakCrest Funeral Home in Waco, Texas.
