Marilyn Ann Baker Mahoney, 91, of Waco, Texas passed away in her sleep on March 28, 2026 at her home. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, April 10th at OakCrest Funeral Home in Waco.
Marilyn was born on July 21,1934 in Ithaca, MI to Glaydis and Donald Baker. She graduated high school in Ithaca in 1952 and attended Central Michigan College in Mount Pleasant.
Marilyn had a short marriage to Jerry Trask then married Donald E. Baker in June of 1959. They had one son, Steven Baker, and were married until 1983 when they divorced. After the divorce she started working in retail sales with her friend Joani at Sassafras and Bealls until she met Douglas Mahoney in December of 1984. They were married in June of 1986 and were together until Doug’s passing in 2006. She had a boyfriend, Russell Broussard, for a couple of years before he passed in 2012.
She enjoyed riding motorcycles, refinishing furniture, arts & crafts, and working outside in the yard. She traveled to Acapulco, Mexico with friends in a motorhome. Marilyn loved being outdoors and owned a houseboat for several years. She truly had a blessed life as she had a pony named Judy and a carriage when she was a child. She didn’t work most of her life and stayed home to raise her son and be a loving and wonderful housewife to Don and Doug.
Marilyn loved to go dancing and was quite good at it as she and Doug took lessons from her best friends Joani and Tom. Often, they would be the envy on the dance floor with everyone stopping to watch them. During her final years after Doug’s passing, she volunteered at Providence gift shop for several years. Marilyn supported several charities such as the Salvation Army, Shriners Hospital, and several others. She spent most of her lifetime in various churches in Michigan and Texas and had a good relationship with the Lord. Marilyn was a firm believer.
She is survived by her son, Steven Baker; grandson, Jeremy Baker; brother, Jerry Baker and his wife Suzzane; great granddaughter, Kali Baker; and stepson, Mark Baker and his wife Lydia.
A special thanks to Veronica Amarro for her generous help in taking care of Marilyn in her final days.
