Margaret Dunlap

Margaret Agnes (Bucek) Dunlap passed peacefully away on October 25, 2025 at the age of 96. She was a native Texan (a loyal Texas Aggie) born in Hallettsville, TX on January 20, 1929 to Julius J and Margaret (Maggie) Kahanek Bucek. Margaret attended several colleges/universities but met her future husband John Dunlap in a Dallas hospital lab. They were married on December 24, 1950 in Schulenburg, TX which lasted until John’s death on December 30, 1997 (47 years of marriage).

Margaret was always active both inside and outside the home. She was dedicated to the Catholic Church. She enjoyed challenges playing tennis at both the Sul Ross Tennis Center and Waco Regional Tennis & Fitness till she was 83. Margaret was helpful with care of the young grandchildren, but was exuberant at their sporting events. Animals, mostly cats, were tended with upmost attention.

Margaret is survived by her four children: Marliss Williams and husband Mike, Athena Stinson and husband Jim, Julius Dunlap and wife Cara, and Robert Dunlap and wife Lynn, 8 grandchildren (James, Katie, Joe, Carson, Brit, Meg, Bobby, and Ann-Marie), 6 great-grandchildren (Evan, Alyssa, Lorelai, Benjamin, Makenna, and Blake), and brother Stan Bucek and wife Tammy.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Lynridge Waco for over 3 1/2 years of kind attention in the Memory Care Unit. Gentiva Hospice (especially Tiffany and Brooke) were beneficial providing additional support to keep Mom in her familiar place.

Visitation and Rosary will be at Oakcrest Funeral Home, Waco, TX on Friday, October 31, 2025 from 4-7 PM.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at St Joseph Catholic Church, Bellmead, TX at 10 AM with reception following in Parish Hall.

Private burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Waco, TX at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Sisters of Mary Morning Star (6901 Old McGregor Rd, Woodway, TX 76712-6115) or Waco ABC Clinic (3238 Clay Ave, Waco, TX 76711).
