Mr. Louis Casey Talley, 94, of Waco, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Providence Medical Center of Waco, Texas.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church, 1300 Columbus Avenue, with the Rev. Brian Dunks officiating.
A reception with the family will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. Viewing will be until noon Thursday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., and prior to the service at the church.
Louis was born February 12, 1917 in Temple to Josephus and Beulah (Casey) Talley. He graduated from Temple High School and from Baylor University. He was married to Sammie Sullivan Talley on June 26, 1943 at Mary Hardin Baylor College in Belton. Most of his professional career was with Lone Star Gas Company.
Louis had diverse interests and endless energy, which included a working farm, beekeeping, inventing, building furniture, and photography. Louis was an amazing and unique individual; he had a strong value of family, and an unwavering set of Christian and personal principles that are reflected in his family today.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Louis is survived by two sons, Dr. Robert Talley and wife, Dr. Vickie Massey of Overland Park, Kansas, and Lee Talley and wife, JoAnn, of Houston; two daughters, Sammie Palmer and husband, Tom, of Miramar, Florida, and Martha Talley of Fairway, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Christie Hayes and husband, John, Robin Talley, Capt. Justin Talley and wife, Jennifer, Ryan Talley, Nicole Edwards and husband, Jonathan, Patricia Talley, Tim Palmer, Aaron Rosenblum, and Daryl Rosenblum; and three great-grandchildren, Kelly Hayes, Megan Hayes, and Thomas Hayes.
