Leland E. Walters 80, of Waco passed away Saturday August 5, 2006. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday August 9, 2006 at Austin Memorial Cemetery in Austin with Gina Ellinger officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Mr. Walters was born July 28, 1926 in Wayside, Texas to Joseph Walters and Annie D Lawrence Walters. Mr. Walters graduated from Gatesville High School in 1944 and was a active member of the band. He was a member of Harris Creek Baptist Church, a Navy veteran of WWII. Mr. Walters was the owner of The Hobby Shop from 1960 to 1990. He was preceded in death by his wife Ann, daughter Jan Walters, son Joe Walters, grandchildren Sean and Shannon Adams.
Mr. Walters is survived by his daughter Jackie Fife and husband Daryl of West, sisters Dorothy Pruett of Gatesville, Doris Skipper of Donalsonville Ga., granddaughter Gina Ellinger and husband Alan, great grandsons Kyle, Ryan and Cody Ellinger all of West, son?in-law Dalton Adams of Waco.
Memorials may be made for Leland Walters Music Scholarship Fund to Central National Bank, 8320 W. Hwy 84, Waco, Texas 76712.
