Lawrence Guerra Chavez 66 of Waco, TX passed away unexpectedly on July 13, 2025. Visitation will be Monday, July 21st starting at 6pm with Rosary at 7pm at OakCrest Funeral Home. Burial will be 10am Tuesday, July 22nd at Oakwood Cemetery,

Lawrence was born October 3, 1958 in Waco, TX to Alejo and Sarah Chavez. Lawrence was known for his contagious smile everywhere he went. He took honor in serving as a usher at Saint Francis Catholic Church, he was an avid softball player in his younger years, known to many for his skills on the ball field as player and coach alike. He took much pride in working for Midway ISD and did so for many years starting off as a crossing guard then later using his knack for decorating to beautifully decorate the administration building at Christmas time. Lawrence truly enjoyed helping people, he also worked on special events for his beloved Baylor Bears. Always seen sharply dressed and sporting his favorite team.

He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Proceeded in death by his parents, Alejo and Sarah Chavez, and brothers, Joe Chavez and Roy Chavez.

Survived by his children, Christopher Chavez and wife Crystal, Lawrence Vasquez and fiance Erica, and Mandria Arias; grandchildren, Jayden Chavez, Xavier Chavez, Malean Chavez, Julius Chavez, Lawrence Vasquez, Nicholas Vasquez, Faith Vasquez, Lauryn Vasquez, Mia Vasquez, Kaleab Vasquez, Joseph Arias, Alexia Arias, Dominic Arias, and Alaia Aviles; siblings, Mary Galvan and husband Pete, Eloy Chavez and wife Rachelle, Robert Chavez, Pauline Rodriguez and husband Marshall, and Gloria Chavez; ex-wife and good friend, Virginia Garcia; great-granddaughter, Elianna Ramirez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
