Kathryn Olander, 74 of Woodway passed away peacefully after a short illness on October 18, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. Visitation will be at 1pm on Sunday, October 26th in the Fellowship Hall of Alliance Bible Church, 7201 Country Club Drive in Waco and a meal will be provided. Pastor Rick Koskela will lead a Celebration of Life afterward at 3pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd, Waco. Burial will be on Monday, October 27th at the DFW National Cemetery at 9:30am with a brief graveside service.
Kathryn was born November 18, 1950 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Amos and Virginia Lozano and grew up in Farmers Branch, Texas where she met her future husband of 54 years, Lonnie. Both graduated from R. L. Turner High School. They spent 20 years traveling the world in the Air Force with their 2 sons, Chris and Aaron. After he retired from the military they moved to Woodway and Lonnie worked at Baylor University for almost 27 years before retiring again. Kathryn worked as a preschool teacher for a time in Waco and loved working with the kids. She was active in the church and led the children’s church program at Alliance Bible Church for ten years. If she had a superpower, it was talking to people. She had a love for studying the Bible and sharing the gospel with others. She cherished her very large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Pat Wellborn; and twin daughters, Emily and Juanita. She is survived by her husband, Lonnie; sons, Chris and Aaron; daughters-in-law, Becky and Amanda; and grandchildren, Riley, Aiden, AJ, Makenna, and Aerial.
