Katherine Maurine (Matthys) Tucker of Waco passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 8, 2003, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas.

SERVICES

Services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 11, 2003, at Lakewood Christian Church, 6905 Bosque Blvd. The Rev. Richard Rust, pastor of Zion United Church, will officiate.

Entombment will follow in the Last Supper Mausoleum at Waco Memorial Park-North.

VISITATION

Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, in the chapel of OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. A memorial videotape commemorating her life will be shown during the visitation at the funeral home. OakCrest Funeral Home is located on Bosque Boulevard right across from the Heart of Texas Fair Complex.


PERSONAL LIFE

Kathy was born in Waco, the daughter of Arnold and Annie Knipstein Matthys, and has lived here all of her life. She graduated from Waco High School in 1951, and graduated from 4C Business College in 1954.

She married her soul mate Tommy on October 8, 1954 in Waco at Zion Church.

SURVIVORS

She was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Matthys of Waco, and a sister, Shirley Feller of Waco, and her parents.
Kathy is survived by her husband and soul mate of 48 years, A.L. 'Tommy' Tucker; son, Tim Tucker of Waco and his wife Ashley; daughter, Denise Tucker and ?adopted? daughter Nancy Duffy of Waco; adored grandchildren, Hanna Paige Tucker and Heath Austin Tucker of Waco; brother, Marvin Matthys and wife Katharine of Hubbard, and sister-in-law Pat Webb, special sister Norma McElroy of Fort Worth and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

PALLBEARERS

Pallbearers will be Rondy Gray, Jerry McElroy, Don Pray, John 'Buddy' Roth, Phil Schoppe and Frank Yowell.

HONORARY PALLBEARERS

Honorary Pallbearers will be George Jurek, Bob McLaughlin, Dr. David Gogulski, and the friends of the following: card playing group, Bunko club, supper club, and domino group.

KATHY WAS ACTIVE IN SEVERAL GROUPS

Kathy was a member of several special activity groups in which she enjoyed meeting with on a consistent basis. She was a life long member of Zion United Church, and a long remembered past PTA president and 'room mother' for both of her children?s school years. She was a member of a twice weekly card playing group, a monthly domino group, monthly Bunco club member for over 40 years, a monthly supper club member, and a member of the Cabaret dance club.

She was a fantastic hostess, superior cook, excellent interior decorator and floral designer all of her life.
Kathy was a very loving and special wife, mother, grandmother, family member and friend to all.

NEVER MET A STRANGER

With her genuine love and kindness she never met a stranger and made life long friendships upon first meeting. With her zest for life, great sense of humor and wonderful spirit, her love will be carried in the hearts of her family, friends and all that knew her.

Our family would like to thank all of mom's doctors, nurses, and the office staff of the Scott and White Clinic on Fish Pond and the Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Providence Hospital and the Out Patient Care Unit; we appreciate your consistent attentive care.
