John Richard Jones, 81, of Hewitt, Texas passed peacefully into the presence of God on Saturday, Apil 11, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 6, 1944, in Honey Grove, Texas, he was the beloved son of Mace Horace Jones and Betty Jane (Ricketts) Jones.

John met the love of his life, Linda Jo (Shumate) Jones and they married on August 3, 1963, beginning an adventurous life full of love, joy, and laughter.

A proud and dedicated veteran, John honorably served in the United States Air Force for 22 years. During his distinguished military career, John served his country stateside in Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico as well as overseas in Taiwan, England, and Denmark. He faithfully served his country with commitment and pride.

Following his military service, John R. Jones pursued his passion working at RAM Aircraft for 20 years before joining Caterpillar for several years, where he eventually retired to spend more time with his beloved wife, Linda. He enjoyed fishing, telling stories about his many adventures overseas, and loved spending time with his son, Mark, off-roading with the Jeep Club. He also cherished his beloved German Shepard, Rugar, his loyal companion who brought him great comfort and joy.

Preceding him in death are his wife of 49 years, Linda Jo Jones; his parents, Mace and Betty Jones; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Norman and Shirley Millican; brother-in-law and sister- in-law, Fred and Mary Carter; and brother-in-law, Jack Hearn.

John is survived by his daughter, Lisa Ann Czajkowski of Lorena, and son, Mark Richard Jones, of Hewitt. The lights of Pawpaw’s life were his grandchildren, Krysten and Jake Wilhite, Scott and Melissa Czajkowski, and his great-grandchildren Jordyn, Jameson, Levi, Liam, and Viviana. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Linda Chamberland and husband Bob of Waxahachie; in-laws, Doyle and Polly Shumate of Mt. Vernon, Barbara Hearn of Star Harbour, Quieva Williams and husband, Glenn of Gun Barrell City, Wayne Shumate and wife, Rebecca of Palestine, Jerry Shumate and wife, Adabeth of Malakoff, and Marsha Grant and husband, Phillip of Plano; and numerous extended family and friends.

Honorary pallbearers are Mark Jones, Scott Czajkowski, Jacob Wilhite, Anthony Czajkowski, Chet Norvell, Jason Chamberland, Brian Chamberland, and Aaron Chamberland.
