February 12, 1940 – August 5, 2012

Jerry Joel Meyer, 72, of Speegleville, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012, at his residence. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Perry United Methodist Church with Rev. Ike Ledger and Rev. Ron Oden officiating. Visitation will be 6 – 9 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard.

Jerry was born February 12, 1940, in Valley Mills to Ardine and Mary Pearl (Meadors) Meyer. He proudly served in the Texas National Guard. Jerry retired from International Paper and most recently from Meyer Painting. He was a member of Perry United Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling to National Parks, barbequing in his back yard, hunting, fishing, antiquing, collecting arrowheads and sad irons, but most of all, Jerry loved spending time with his family.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Larry Meyer and Don Meyer.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Betty of Speegleville; daughter, Cynthia McCune and husband Ray of Hewitt; son, James Meyer and wife Kathryn of College Station; sister, Brenda Kay Meadows of Waco; grandchildren, Jennifer Olson and husband Ryan, Garreth Taylor, Josey Meyer, Kasidy Meyer, and Travis Chandler, Hunter Cobb; great-grandchild Kenna Olson; and numerous nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to his church family, neighbors, Dr. Cooney and Dr. Cable, and especially Scott & White Hospice.
