Jimmy Sharp, 80, of Robinson, Texas, passed away on March 31, 2026 at Ascension-Providence Hospital surrounded by his loved ones after a long and courageous battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7th at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, 1401 Washington Ave, Waco, Texas, with Rev. Joseph F. Geleney, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8th at Mount Sharp Cemetery, Mount Gainor, Hays County, Texas.
Jimmy was born on September 13, 1945 in Waco, Texas to George and Gail Sharp. After graduating in the first class of Robinson High School in 1964, he attended Hill College and graduated from Sam Houston University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Jimmy was an enthusiastic deer hunter, hunting on leases all across Texas. However, the highlight of every year, was a hunting trip to New Mexico with his best friend, Anthony Duty. The trip to New Mexico continued for 43 years until his health issues prevented him from packing up and going after the deer.
In January 1965, he married Mary Jennings and had one daughter, Lindsay Sharp. Mary and Jim were married for 56 years and knew each other for 61 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gail Sharp; three sisters, Minnie Mae (Sis) Whyburn, Erma (Tot) Polk, and Louise Nehring Black; and two brothers, Larry Sharp and John (Sonny) Sharp.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughter, Lindsay Sharp; two brothers-in-law, Jack Black and Johnie Nehring; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Maydee A Rosario-Reglero, MD. for providing excellent and heartfelt care during such a difficult time. We will always be eternally grateful.
Pallbearers will be Cyle Sharp, Scott Sharp, Dwayne Pace, Gregg Polk, Chris Tadlock, and Danny Ozment.
