James B. Price
April 21, 1925 – February 10, 2015
James Benny 'Jim' Price, 89, of Waco, passed away early in the morning on Tuesday, February 10, 2015. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, February 14, at OakCrest Funeral Home with Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Moore Cemetery in Chalk Bluff. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco, 254-772-5272.
Jim was born on April 21, 1925 in English Eddy, Georgia and graduated from Lyons High School. He served as a pilot in the US Air Force for nearly 23 years, retiring in 1966 as a Lieutenant Colonel. He went on to a second career as an insurance salesman for Prudential. In his later years, he worked with his wife in their real estate business.
He loved fishing and baseball. He could quote ERAs and RBIs for all the major players, past and present, off the top of his head. Most nights during baseball season you could find him in front of the television trying to watch three games at one time, but most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them. He will be dearly missed, but always remembered.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Lillian Elizabeth 'Liz' Damants Price; his parents, James A Price and Julia Edna Elkins Price; and his brother Paul Price.
He is survived by his two daughters, Christye Price, and Tammy Price; four grandchildren, Jennifer Rathmell, Leslie Cantwell, Lisa Cantwell, and Laura Scamardo and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother J E Price and sister Julia Price, as well as many nieces and nephews.
