James Lee Carruth

James Carruth, 79, of Waco, TX passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026 at his home.

James was born on July 21, 1946, in Waco, TX, to Frank and Viola Carruth. He graduated from Waco High School in 1964 and then attended Baylor University. His college career was interrupted by his service in the National Guard and Army Reserves. He loved sharing stories of his time in jump school while he was in the National Guard. Upon returning, he married the love of his life Vickie Bizzell, in 1968. June 1st would have been their 58th wedding anniversary. He went on to complete his college degree graduating from Baylor University in 1971.

He dedicated 30 years of his career with the Texas Farm Bureau ending as the HR Director. After his retirement in 2004, he and Vickie continued to own and operate Park Lake Flowers.

James was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. James and Vickie were blessed to have two wonderful children, Amy Carruth Winkleman and Patrick Allen Carruth. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister and brother in law, Wanda and Artie Giotes. He is survived by his wife Vickie, his children, Amy Carruth Winkleman (Clifton) and Patrick Carruth (Kayla), and his four grandchildren, Haley, Emily, Dillon and Mabel who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by a sister and brother in law, several cousins, nieces and nephews.

James will be remembered as a lifelong Baylor Bear fan. He was passionate about the Bears, holding season tickets for football and Lady Bear basketball for many years. He was a member of Woodway First United Methodist church. James will be remembered for his unwavering faith and dedication to his Lord and family.

A Celebration of his Life will be held on May 30, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 PM at The Baylor Club at McLane Stadium (1001 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Waco, TX 76704). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Woodway First United Methodist Church (21000 Woodway Dr., Woodway, TX 76712)
