November 10, 1928 - January 1, 2008
Helen Rose, 79, of Woodway, passed away January 1 at home surrounded by her family.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, at St. Jerome's Catholic Church with Father Raj officiating.
Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5-7 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Helen Rose was born near Watt, Texas on November 10, 1928 to James and Agnes (Beralek) Pavlovsky.
She graduated from Mart High School and Providence Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at the VA Medical Center for 26 years retiring in 1988. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and RVOS.
She was active in the Women's Society at St. Jerome's Church in addition to serving as usher and greeter.
She married Edward Vacula in 1952. He passed away in 1983. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Raymond and George Pavlovsky.
Survivors include her special friend, James Kaatz; two daughters, Elaine Winniford and husband, Sherm and Kim Blackshear and husband, Richard; grandson, Beau Blackshear; two sisters, Ann Thomas of Alhambra, California, and Amy Roberts of Templeton, California, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank everyone at Bluebonnet Home Health Care and Hospice, Providence Home Health Care and the many friends and family who cared for Mom these past few months.
