Faith Rhiannon Davis

‘She fought the good fight. She finished the race. She kept the faith.’ Faith Rhiannon Davis, mother to Kenneth Charles Searfoss, was a bold, brave, and beautiful young woman who passed away the morning of September 8, 2025, due to complications from Cystic Fibrosis. She was born on May 23, 1999, in Waco, Texas and was raised in a home full of love, laughter, and loud talking that reverberated with music. Faith persevered through adversity from her own illness, as well as the illnesses that touched her family, stating that ‘these challenges shaped her into the women she became.’

Faith was a fierce and loyal sister to her brothers Chase Holden and Seth Hobin. She would walk through fire to protect them, as they would for her. They would carry on entire conversations with movie quotes, memes, and sarcastic quips. They would argue over the most mundane issues and would quickly come together in the most arduous life moments. The three were divinely chosen to share a bond that death cannot break.

By a miracle of modern medicine, Faith became a mother with her former fiancée, Alec Searfoss. Kenneth is the air that filled her failing lungs and the light that awaited her in each waking moment. She treasured each hug and giggle and was proud to hold his hand on his first day of pre-school. Even at her weakest, Faith enjoyed packing his lunch kit and listening to “their” songs on the drive to school and quietly cuddling as he fell asleep from a full day of play. Kenneth speaks of his Mommy as a Princess and asks why she cannot wake up. He looks for her in the clouds, where he sees Heaven. Faith became momentarily alert in her final days when Kenneth came into her ICU room and lovingly whispered “Hi, Baby” to him before she was put on life support.

Faith dreamed of finishing college, getting married, and watching Kenneth grow up. She created connections with people everywhere she went, including the lasting relationships she forged with her nurses, doctors, and hospital staff, and connected with animals on a spiritual level leading to many rescued fur babies in the home over the years. Faith admired strong, independent women and did not realize that she was everything that she admired and that her presence in this world positively impacted and inspired so many people. Faith finished high school from a hospital bed fighting acute rejection following her liver transplant at the beginning of her senior year. She recovered from emotional setbacks with an inherent resilience and innate courage. And, over the past ten years, she battled a multitude of complications from her disease, as well as unique infections that could only be described as caused by unfortunate luck. However, her will to live never wavered.

Faith is remembered for her brilliant smile, infectious laugh at her own dark humor, authentic and unapologetic self, and fervent love of her family and son, as well as her affinity for fashion accessorizing, spicy snacks, crime dramas, Barbie, and fluffy blankets.

Faith is preceded in death by her grandparents, Leo and Dolores Sullivan; great aunt and uncle, Micqui and Bill Miller; and dear friend, Reid Petree, who she hoped would help guide her into the afterlife. Faith also mourned the loss of many friends within the Cystic Fibrosis community, with whom she shared the triumphs and tribulations of the disease.

She is survived by her parents, Charles Davis and Leigh Sullivan Davis; brothers, Chase Sullivan and wife, Brittnie, and Seth Davis; grandmother, Evelyn Susan Davis; nieces, Avery Reigh and Ainsley Renee Sullivan; and her precious son, Kenneth. Faith is also survived by several aunts and uncles, cousins, and close family friends who continuously supported her during this journey.

Faith leaves behind enduring friendships that were created in childhood and spanned into adulthood, in addition to new friendships that she developed over the last few years. She celebrated every special moment of life, either with them or from afar, and her love for them is unyielding.

The family offers special thanks to Dr. Nancy Dambro and Dr. John Burk and their teams from the CF Clinic at Cook Children’s Hospital who gave Faith her childhood and years of adulthood, respectively. Faith was fortunate to have doctors and nurses and staff that treated her on Five North and South at Cook Children’s and the Palliative floor at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital and provided an exceptional level of care. We are deeply grateful.

Faith Rhiannon Davis was a formidable force of nature; a storm that forever changed our lives and we will continue to uphold her legacy. She was an incredible daughter, sister, friend, and mother, and we humbly ask that you hold her son, Kenneth, in your hearts and prayers.
