Dorothy Jane Woycheshin

Dorothy Jane Woycheshin, age 81, passed away on September 30, 2025 at her temporary home of Providence Village St. Catherine’s Center in Waco, TX after a short illness. She will be remembered for her kindness and love for her family.

Dorothy was born to Oscar and Agnes Heng in Otoe County Nebraska, the 4th child of 5. She grew up on her family’s picturesque farm with rolling hills and wide-open spaces near Dunbar, Nebraska.

She met her husband Bill of Waco, Texas while he was stationed in Lincoln, Nebraska in the United States Air Force. They fell in love and married.

Upon Bill’s discharge from the Air Force, the couple relocated to Waco, Texas. Dorothy and Bill had four sons together: Douglas, Joseph, Gregory and Billy.

Dorothy was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker for many years. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and having family over for meals and holidays.

As her children grew it was necessary for Dorothy to enter the working world. She held many positions in manufacturing, secretarial, retail sales and food services.

She spent over 20 years working at SAM’s Club in Waco, Texas before her retirement. You might have purchased food from “Dottie”, as she was known there when she ran the deli, or saw her smiling face and friendly attitude when she ran a register in a checkout line.

Dorothy’s outgoing personality also led her to make announcements over the loudspeaker which she enjoyed. She excelled at selling credit there at SAM’s as well.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Doug (Gena) Woycheshin and Billy (Nikki) Woycheshin; grandchildren, Haleigh, Heather, Kenzie, and Evan Woycheshin; brother, Michael Heng; sister, Mary Leidig; brother, Oscar (Wilma) Heng; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her sons, Joseph and Gregory; husband, Bill; parents, Oscar and Agnes Heng; sister, Agnes Wheeler; sister-in-law, Virginia Heng; and brother-in-law, Ron Leidig.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, October the 5th at 4pm, followed by a Rosary at 5pm at OakCrest Funeral Home in Waco, Texas. The funeral will be held on Monday, October 6th, 2025, at 10am at St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco, Texas immediately followed by a graveside burial at Waco Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Billy Woycheshin, Evan Woycheshin, David Dees, Doug Woycheshin, Bennett Sherman, and Tyler Cunefare.
