Dawn Meier Rusek

Dawn Rachael Rusek, 63, passed away on August 30, 2026 in Austin, Texas. She was born on May the 7th, 1963 in Waco, Texas to Jan and David Meier. She leaves behind her mother and three brothers, Larry Guthrie, David Meier, and Robert Meier.

Dawn attended Waco Schools and graduated from Richfield High School in 1981. She went to work at 14 in the gift-wrapping department of Cox’s Department Store. After graduating high school, she attended MCC and went to work for Stanley’s Shoes (the place to get your Jimmy Choos). In her retail career she also had the pleasure of working for Dilliard’s and Jan’s Perfect Presents. She finished her career at the Law Firm of Sheehy, Lovelace & Mayfield.

Dawn was married to Walter John Rusek, Jr. on August the 6th 1983 in Waco, Texas. They were blessed with two children, Mary Elizabeth Rusek and Walter John Rusek, III.

Dawn had many cherished friends and family. She touched countless lives while on this earth and will be greatly missed.

Services will be held Friday, September 4th at 2 pm at Grace Temple Baptist Church, 3825 Bosque Blvd Waco, Texas 76710. Coffee, deserts, and visitation to follow. Dress is “come as you are.” In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Dawn’s name to a charity of your choice.
