Christopher Sean Nutt, age 53, of Lake Whitney, Texas, passed away in a Waco hospital on November 18, 2024, after a 2 month-long battle with lung and heart disease. He was surrounded by his family at time of his death. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 11:30 am at St. Louis Catholic Church, 2001 North 25th Street, Waco, Texas 75708. Christopher was known as Christopher to his family, Chris to his friends. Christopher was born in Waco, Texas, on December 30, 1970. He was a tiny little guy who defeated all the odds to survive. He attended kindergarden, loving Ms. Pat and loving school. He loved to play with his older sister, Denise, particularly if they were in the dirt. He was funny as a toddler, always active and happy, loving to play with cars and trucks. He started school at St. Louis Parochial School, where he received first communion and reconciliation. He enjoyed elementary school, was always ready to go to school. He and his sister Denise were so close, more so than twins, and protected each other no matter what the situation – good, bad, or indifferent. Christopher later attended public schools. He moved to Stephenville where he graduated from Stephenville High School. He started working at the neighborhood Piggly Wiggly while in high school, later employed in auto parts stores, auto parts manufacturing, industrial construction, and other settings. He discovered his loved and chosen profession, truck driving, which he continued until his death. He worked for a number of over-the-road companies, settling into working for Republic Services for twenty years. He was a driver trainer for Republic, and received many recognitions for driver safety and performance. He was selected as Republic Service’s Nationwide Driver of the Year in 2019.

Christopher was preceded in death by: his maternal grandparents Tell and Gladys Todar; paternal grandfather, Ray Nutt; and several cousins and close friends. He is survived by: his grandmother, Opal Nutt of Marlin; parents, father Dennis Nutt and wife Martha of Woodway, mother Francine Todar-Peters and husband Bill Peters of Lake Whitney; beloved sister Denise Reed and husband Thomas Reed of Whitehouse; step-siblings Ron Peters of Waco, Cathy Castanon of Waco, and Christine Hulme of Pooler, GA; beloved nephew Nicholas Reed of Whitehouse; beloved niece Madison Reed of Whitehouse; a dear cousin Barry Todar of Waco; uncles Kenneth Todar of Madison WI and Roger Todar of Cortez CO; a paternal uncle, Danny Nutt, passed away after his death but prior to this service; aunt Diane Nutt Edwards of Dallas; and son Ryan Carr Nutt of Stephenville. In addition, he is survived by numerous cousins.

Christopher was a family man. He grew up embedded in three very different family traditions: the Nutt family of his father, the Todar family of his mother, and the Bailey-Peters family of his step-father. He remained close and committed to his relationships with all the extended members of all three families throughout his life. In his adult relationships, he continued the tradition of forming and keeping strong family bonds.

Christopher never met a stranger. He was a leader in his neighborhood, providing assistance , support, and labor when needed. He built an addition to his house, along with other remodeling, and helped many others with construction projects. He was kind to all. He was a great friend, coworker, brother, son, husband, and father. He was a great son to his father and step-father, would do anything to assist them. He was a great brother and friend to his sister and her family.

He always made time to listen, and was honest in sharing his feelings. He supported his friends and family in striving for their goals. He was there to help if you stumbled. He provided encouragement to anyone who shared his path, with specific acknowledgment to the members of the support group he participated in.

Christopher enjoyed travel, rock concerts, playing his guitars, camping, golf, fishing, his dogs, family dogs, neighbor’s dogs, stray dogs, being with friends, and being with family. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, sometimes enjoying their games, depending. He would always call his grandmother Opal prior to each game to discuss that week’s prospects. He particularly enjoyed his parents’ family cabin in the New Mexico mountains. He was a master grill cook, always sharing food with family and friends.

Honorary Pallbearers include: Michael Cook, Jimmy Fortune, Dennis Nutt, Bill Peters, Ron Peters, Nicholas Reed, Thomas Reed, Barry Todar, Kenneth Todar, and Roger Todar.
