Alice Ficke

Alice R. Ficke, 89, of Lorena, passed away Monday, September 6, 2010 at Providence Medical Center. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Lorena United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Albertson officiating. A private family graveside service will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will gather for visitation with friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Mrs. Ficke was born October 11, 1920 in Newport, Rhode Island. She attended school in Newport and Amarillo High School in Amarillo. She completed nursing school in 1941 in Amarillo. She married William C. Ficke in 1941. She was a long time registered nurse for Dr. Clayton Traylor in Waco and retired from many years of employment in 1985.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Ficke.

Mrs. Ficke is survived by her two sons, Billy Ficke and wife, Rosemary of Waco and Bobby Ficke and wife, Valerie of Lorena; her sister, Miriam Whittemore of San Angelo; two brothers, Russell Peckham of Rhode Island and Billy Peckham of Indiana; four grandsons, Brian Ficke of West, Brad Ficke of Bishop and Jeromy Ficke and Billy Bob Ficke both of Lorena; and five great grandchildren.
