Obituary for Will Laney McKee



WILL LANEY McKEE
April 1, 1931 - August 16, 2022



Will Laney McKee, 91, of Robinson, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 16, 2022 at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center - Hillcrest Campus surrounded by loved ones.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Meadowbrook Baptist Church, 1207 N. Old Robinson Road, Robinson with Cary Killough and David Cozart officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation and Celebration of his life will be held from 6-8 pm Friday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco.

Laney was born April 1, 1931 in Cego, TX to Leonard and Lela McKee. He graduated from Waco High School. He retired from Texas Farm Bureau after 35 years of service. After retiring he spent several years serving at OakCrest Funeral Home with his wife, Shirley.

He was an active member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church where he served with his wife as group leader, social coordinator, and benevolence representation for their class. Anyone who knows Laney knows he was always willing to serve and help others.

One of the greatest joys in his life was spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He enjoyed working the gate collecting tickets at various Baylor sporting events. You could always find Laney outside working in his yard- especially spreading Christmas Cheer with a yard full of lights. In his later years, he enjoyed greeting new friends at the Delaney and assisting and participating in various activities such as: chicken foot, volleyball, and bingo.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents; son, Rickey McKee and daughter in law Becky; sisters, Helen Harris, Betty Harper-Gibson, Glendene Dean.

Laney is survived by son, Randy McKee and wife Tammy, daughter Robin Teichelman and husband Bill; grandchildren, Ramey Griffin and husband Jimmy, Derrek McKee and wife Angela, Matt McKee and wife Jessica, Lauren Wells and husband Luke, and Addison Teichelman; great-grandchildren, Rikki Griffin, Ava, Connor, Ella, Spencer Jillian McKee, Finley and future baby Wells; brother in laws Ted Nehring Jr. and wife Penny, and Aubrey Nehring; sister in law Rita Nehring; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Derrek McKee, Matt McKee, Luke Wells, Rep Pledger, Brad Nehring, A.T White, G.W. Willis, and Gary Comer.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the medical staff at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center- Hillcrest and the staff and friends at Delaney.

The family has requested in lieu of flower that donations be made to Meadowbrook Baptist Church.
