Obituary

Roy W. Setzer, Jr., 93, of Riesel, TX, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2020. A private graveside service was held at Riesel Cemetery.

Roy was born June 2, 1927, in Rogers, TX, to Roy & Susie (Gandy) Setzer Sr. He was one of five siblings. He went to school in Rogers, TX, and worked with his parents on their farm. He soon started working for Asplundh Tree Expert Co., working his way to Superintendent, with crews all over the state of TX, through TP&L.

In 1950, Roy met & married the love of his life, Fay Randolph, and recently celebrated their 70th Anniversary. They had two children, Royce Setzer, of Chattanooga TN, and Rickie Setzer-Smith, of Waco TX.

Roy loved life on his farm, raising cattle, driving his tractors, and spending time with his family. He was liked by everyone, and he loved them all.

Roy is survived by his forever-loving wife, Fay, son, Royce Setzer, daughter Rickie Setzer-Smith and husband, Kent Smith, two grandchildren, Michael Setzer-Patti, and Shannon Jordan, and great-grandchildren Brooke Mahoney, Paige Mahoney, Grant Jordan, and Robert.

We want to thank all the staff and nurses at Ridgecrest Retirement Center and Interim Hospice for all their love, and care for our precious father.

Mrs. Setzer and family,
I was saddened to hear about the passing of Mr. Setzer. He was a wonderful person and we shared many stories
when he came into the bank. He always made me laugh listening to his stories about cows and hay baling. He so
loved his farm! He will missed by many but rest assured that on July 11, 2020, Heaven gained another angel.
My prayers and love to the family.

Mrs. Setzer,

My grandfather was Ed Roy Garrett and as a kid I would go with him to the Bluebonnet Cafe to drink coffee. I always enjoyed visiting with Mr. Setzer and hearing his take on whatever it was the fellas were talking about. When my grandma passed in 2002, Mr. Setzer was there for my grandpa and I always admired him for that. As already said, he was certainly a true gentleman. Continued prayers for you in the days to come.

I saw Mr. Setzer's obituary by chance online. I worked at TP&L/TU Electric Service Center and enjoyed knowing Mr. Setzer (as I always called him). He was always so pleasant and friendly - a gentleman. Such a good picture of him with obituary; just as I remember him.
My sympathy to all of his family.
