Obituary for Ronald Trussell

Ronald Eugene Trussell passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, in Waco, Texas. His service will be Friday, July 22, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard; Waco, Texas with Rev. John R. Stephenson, III officiating. Ronald Eugene Trussell was born December 7, 1949, in Haskell, Texas to Lawanda Hill and Alfred Trussell. He graduated from Waco High School in Waco, Texas. After high school he joined the Air Force. Ron served from 1973 to 1993. He retired after 20 years. He went to work at L3 and retired after 20 years there.

Ron was a life member of the VFW and American Legion. He believed in giving back to his community and especially helping veterans and their families. He volunteered at the VA Hospital for years.

He was one of the founding members and helped in forming the Tsalagyi Nvdagi (Texas Cherokee). He had served as Deputy Chief for several years and UGA Principal Chief from 2016 to his death.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Trussell. They were married in 2011. He is also survived by one sister, two step-sisters, three children, two step-sons, seven grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.

The family visitation will be Thursday evening July 21, 2022, from 6 to 8 at the OakCrest Funeral Home. Service will be Friday, July 22, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Crest Funeral Home. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Cemetery, 6623 South Interstate 35 N: Waco, Texas. After the service and burial, the family and friends will meet at the Veterans’ One Stop on LaSalle for visitation and light meal.
