Obituary for Paul H. Orta Sr.

Sir Knight Paul H. Orta, Sr., 63, completed his earthly journey on Thursday, October 1, 2020.

Paul was born on December 27, 1956, in Waco, Texas to Fred R. and Tommie (Hernandez) Orta. Paul grew up in Waco, attended local schools, and became a musician and singer, playing with local bands and helping lead his father’s band named, “Freddie Orta y su Conjunto”.

Paul and Cynthia began their journey in 1984. They married on June 1st, 1997. On June 1st, 2007 they renewed their vows through the church at St. Louis Catholic Church.

Paul was an active member of the Knights of Columbus; attaining all 4 degrees, later he became an active member in the A.C.T.S. community, which is a church leadership organization. For many years Paul assisted in the fund raising of parking cars during the Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo at OakCrest funeral Home. Paul is remembered as an exceptionally good husband and father to his family. He was also a good cook and dancer. He enjoyed making others laugh, even when you didn’t want to laugh, you left laughing with a smile on your face. Paul was a very family oriented man. Paul and Cynthia were inseparable and they made a great team together. He loved to listen and sing Tejano music to Cynthia. One of his favorite songs was “Borracho de Besos” by La Fiebre. He enjoyed being with his family and walking his dogs and always looking forward to meeting new friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Fred R. Orta, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Beatrice and Faustino Hernandez; brothers, Gilbert Orta, Sr., and Henry Hernandez; and mother-in-law, Faye Sanchez.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia; daughter, Gloria Jean Bauer, sons; Paul H. Orta, Jr., Johnathan Paul Orta, Scotty Lee Saucedo, and Larry Glen Bosshard, Jr., and wife Rosalinda.; brothers, Ernest Orta, Sr., and wife, Lilia, Fred R. Orta, Jr., and wife Lois; sisters, Anna Marie Orta, Elizabeth Orta, and Yolanda Gongora, and husband Fabian; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his A.C.T.S brothers and sisters in Christ, and the Knights of Columbus.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Glen Bosshard III, Kamdyn Orta, Paul H. Orta, Jr., Michael Bosshard and Jesus Sanchez.

Pallbearers will be Johnathan Paul Orta, Scotty Lee Saucedo, Larry Glen Bosshard, Jr., Elpidio Saucedo, James Mozee, and Joe Saucedo III.
