Obituary for Pastor Marshall Lopez Jr.

Pastor Marshall Lopez, Jr.

September 28, 1961 October 24, 2020

On Saturday, October 24, 2020, the fifty-ninth year of his life. Pastor Marshall heard the words he had so often preached to others, “Come good and faithful servant and receive the crown I have prepared for you.”

On September 28, 1961, in Waco, Texas a baby boy was born to Marshall and Ninfa (Carbajal) Lopez. Little did they know that this tiny little boy would grow in the grace of the Almighty and serve many to a better life. He would in faith, hope, and charity bring many to the knowledge of the loving relationship one can have with The Father.

Marshall went to Midway High School and graduated in 1980, from there he attended McLennan Community College, then Baylor University, graduating in 1985, completing his studies at Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He returned to Waco to serve his community. He served as youth pastor at the following churches; Emmanuel Baptist, Kendrick Lane Baptist Church, Brazos Meadow Baptist Church, and Mighty Wind Worship Center. After a short time he became Pastor of Pastoral Care, a ministry he truly loved. His concern for the youth of the neighborhoods led to his founding and directorship of Right Track Ministries.

He loved his family and was always concerned about their welfare.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pauline Lopez; and son, Joshua Michael Lopez.

Pastor Marshall is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn De La Torre; sons, Michael Lopez, Jonathan Lopez, Matthew Lopez; and daughter, Stephanie Lopez; one granddaughter and two grandsons; brothers, Cyrus Lopez, Christopher Lopez and Joe Lopez; sisters, Rosie Rosas and Selena Lopez; and his Mighty Wind Family.
