Obituary for Jose Felipe Perez

Jose Felipe Perez passed away Sunday, June 7, 2020. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Saturday, June 13, 2020, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Rev. C. Benjamin Magnaye as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park.
Felipe was born in Contla, Jalisco on March 17, 1950 to Francisco and Elidia Perez. He was the youngest of seven. He had a lot of responsibilities on his plate at a young age, he helped his mother raise his nieces and nephews; he’s greatly remembered for his love, support and advice and was looked up to as a father figure.
He came to Houston, Texas from Guadalajara, Mexico in the 1970s and met the love of his life, Diane Herrera who he married on May 28, 1978. They were married for 42 years. He has two daughters, Elidia and Diana Perez and two grandchildren, Victor Antonio and Olivia Adriana Keltner.
Dad worked hard for his family even after an accident that caused him to become unable to work. He collected cans, cardboard and pallets to fix and sell to provide for his family. He was strong in his beliefs that were placed there by his parents and loves to speak about God when given the chance.
God gave him the gift to explain the gospel, thus, he assisted in developing prayer groups around Central Texas and made lasting friendships along the way. He was part of the Cursillo movement, Eucharistic ministry, Santo Nombre, Encuentro matrimonial, prayer groups and help organize puestos and breakfasts for many church functions.
He was diagnosed with cancer in July 2018, his faith did not waiver throughout his journey and became stronger. Felipe walked this journey with family and friends and is now at peace and rejoicing with family who have gone before him.
