Obituary for James (Ed) Wilkerson Sr.

James E. Wilkerson Sr.
January 22, 1958 – January 14, 2022

James E. Wilkerson Sr., 63, of Hewitt, passed away Friday in a Waco Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Western Heights Baptist Church with Brother Kip Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque.

James was born January 22, 1958 in Fort Worth to Virgil and Jerry Wilkerson. He graduated from Haltom City High School in Haltom City in 1976. He married Susan E. Sammons Wilkerson on October 12, 1976. They had three Children together. After Susan’s passing, he Married his second wife Sophia Jayne Villareal Wilkerson on February 11, 2016. James made a living driving truck all over the US for AAFES for many years before finally getting off the road when he took a management job. He loved Fishing, Golf, Baseball, Football, and had so much fun Coaching Baseball with his Buddies for several years. He was a huge Baseball fan and loved the Texas Rangers. He got to attend the MLB World Series when Texas made it which was a lifelong dream of his. One of his favorite things each year was his Ghetto Football Picks with his Brother’s and all his lifelong friends that he grew up with. Each year they would get together and play a round of golf and have a dinner to crown a champion of the previous year’s Pick’s. He treated all of his children’s friends like they were his own. He cherished all his friendships in life and never failed to ask how everyone was doing. People that knew James know the man that he was and he was special to so many. He was the guy that you could count on just to talk if you needed it or just hang out and have fun. He loved getting together with his brothers and just hanging out. He loved each one of his Kids the same along with his family and all his friends. If you knew James, you were a lifelong friend to him and special in his heart.

He was Preceded in death by His first wife Susan, His second wife Sophia, Father Virgil, and two Sisters Kathy and Carol.

Survivors include: Sons, James Wilkerson Jr and Wife Jennifer of Hewitt. Aaron Wilkerson and Wife Hannah of Phoenix, Santos Sanchez Jr and Wife Treva of Fort Worth, Gabriel Villareal and Wife Melinda of Arlington, Jesus Sanchez and Wife April of Heartland; Daughter, Amanda Wilkerson and her Husband Steve of Waco; Grandchildren, Matthew, Chad, Colton, Carson, Alysa, Peyton, Ava, Bodie, Mia, Sarah, Victoria, Andraya, McKenah, Madison, Ethan, Kyla, Carson, Avril, Faith, Natalee, Jesus Jr; Mother Jerry Wilkerson, Brother Virgil Wilkerson and wife Edie, Brother Steven Wilkerson and wife Myriam. Several Nieces and Nephews and a few Great Grandchildren along with several friends.
