Obituary for James Thomas Baty

James Thomas Baty, 64, of Waco, passed away on June 06, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Services will be at 1 pm Wednesday, June 9th, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque, Waco. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery.

James was born July 10, 1956 in Waco, Tx to George and Joyce Baty. In 1976, James began his journey in fatherhood to his three children. The love between him and his children continued to grow over his lifetime. James was an amazing Dad, Son, Brother, Grandfather, Uncle, and Friend.

James was a country boy through and through. In his younger days he liked to hunt, and he loved to fish. He had a passion for gardening that proved his thumb was green. Being raised on a dairy farm in the Baty family meant something. Rise at 4 am and head to the barn, take a break for Granny’s biscuits at 10, head to fields at 10:30… being a hard worker is instilled in your blood. He was a man of many professions, Dairy farmer, contractor, and Taco stand entrepreneur. As he would say, he was a Jack of All Trades. In his spare time, James enjoyed sitting on his porch drinking coffee and listening to music while he “got right with the Lord”. James was a Christian. He loved to share the word of God, even if it was by saying “ You better Get right with God”. James always had this calmness about himself and a smile on his face.

James is survived by his children Brent (wife Gina), Jason, and Lacey Baty: sisters Jackie, Darlene, Fay, and Doris; brothers Kenny, Junior, David, Robert, Jimmy, and Gary; granddaughters Veronica and Aitesia; grandson Cj; great-grandson Tristan; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Providence Hospice, the Alpha Network, and his nurse as well as friend, Lillian McCuistion.
