Mary Jacqueline (Jackie) Fredrick Zrubek passed away October 26, 2022. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, November 4, at St. Louis Catholic Church with Rev. Ryan Higdon as celebrant. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Waco Memorial Park Cemetery.
Jackie was the daughter of the late Marcel William Fredrick, Jr., and Mary Anastasia Reynolds Fredrick. She was born on August 1, 1928 in Stronghurst, Illinois. She married Daniel Frank Zrubek on June 7, 1958, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waco with Msgr. J.J Kearns officiating.
Jackie was a dedicated educator. She taught for 30 years at TSTC as an associate professor of English and Communications. She received her bachelor’s degree from Baylor University, and her Master's degree from Texas A&M University. She did additional post graduate studies at many Universities, among them University of Houston, University of Colorado, University of Texas Arlington, Florida State Technical University, University of Missouri, East Texas State University, and the University of Hawaii.
Jackie enjoyed people and traveling. She traveled to all 50 United States and to 32 European countries, Canada, Mexico, and Australia. Her favorite countries were France, Germany, and the Czech Republic. She made numerous visits to these countries. She was a gourmet cook, bridge player, and avid reader. The proudest achievements of Jackie’s life were her roles as Daniel Frank Zrubek’s loving wife and mother to her two devoted children, son David, and daughter Laura, and Gran to her adored grandsons, Danny and Luke, and her wonderful granddaughters, Katie and Jen.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Daniel Frank Zrubek.
She is survived by her son, David; and grandsons, Danny and Luke; her daughter, Laura Zrubek Bower and husband, Merton; and granddaughters, Katie and Jen Bower; her sisters, Geraldine Reierson, Judy Hurst and husband, James; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
